Top 10 Date Ideas for New York City

Catch the latest exhibition at the New York Botanical Garden. A favorite of ours is The Orchid Show from mid-February to mid-April.

If it’s in season, catch a game at Citi Field. Make sure to grab your kosher hot dog, knishes, or pretzel at the Kosher booth (near section 115 on the Field Level as well as section 408 on the Promenade Level.)

Get to know your date by being trapped in a room with them! It’s more fun than it sounds. You’ll have to use your communication skills, teamwork and intelligence to escape the room. We went to Mystery Room NYC in midtown and loved it. Follow up with dinner at Colbeh or Jerusalem Cafe if you’re going for a more casual vibe.

Test your date’s skills by taking them to Chelsea Piers and choose from the array of athletic challenges. Follow it up with a prepared picnic in the adjacent park.

I’m a total museum geek so you can just skip this one if you hate museums. But truly, there are some first class museums in New York. Take advantage of the city & up your culture rating with your date by taking them to The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Jewish Museum, or the Frick Collection. Make sure to space out and stare at a painting like you’re looking deep into it’s soul (extra brownie points for being deep!). Follow it up with a coffee. You can find a cool place by browsing this site.

Have an excuse to hold your date’s hand by taking them ice skating at Wollman Rink or Bryant Park Rink. Bryant Park is definitely the cheaper option of the two but Wollman tends to be less crowded. Skate the day or night away together & then explore your surrounding area!

You’ve finally found a reason to visit the Top of the Rock. Evoke your date’s romantic side by taking them up to the best view Manhattan has to offer.

On a nice day, take a stroll on The Highline and read up about it’s amazing history. You’ll also love the views & the artwork!

Show your date that you are different by doing something out of the ‘norm’ – by leaving the city! Go skiing or apple picking – do something s/he’ll be sure to remember.

When all else fails, go to dinner at one of the nicest kosher restaurants in New York City – Mike’s Bistro.
