Packing Hell…or Heaven?

I used to have the hardest time packing for trips. But then I met and married my husband and he unraveled the mystery of packing to me. He also has a supernatural power where he can pack from memory and pack just enough to get him through any length of a trip. I on the other hand used to be your typical over packer. I would pack so much that I would be THAT person sitting on the suitcase trying to zip it up. Or worse, I would try to check my bag and be told it’s 2-5 pounds over the limit. And then I would sift through my clothes pulling out items I thought were heavy just to get it under the weight limit (meanwhile I can feel the eye rolls from the passengers behind me). Inevitably, I found that I never wore all the items I packed and I also found it made it very difficult to bring home items that I purchased on vacation. Now, I pack using the below check list. And when I find myself packing too much – I will take 3-4 items out in the hopes to lighten the load. It’s also easier to pack now because my husband and I never check bags which I find leaves me with little choice but to pack only what I need.

To make your life simpler, I’ve put together a checklist of sorts for your next vacation – whether warm or cold weather. There are unavoidable items you will always need to pack (hello toiletries!) and sometimes perhaps not others (i.e. Food!). But my hope for you, dear reader, is that the list below will make your next packing mission a little bit simpler. Remember that this is just a guided list of things you may or may not need. Listen to your personal comfort when packing! Lastly, always count the days of your trip and see how many outfits are necessary – and perhaps what items can be worn twice (yes, I said it!). This list is geared towards the females out there, but if the males want a list of their own, then comment below to let us know!
