Restaurant Review: The Roast NYC

(5 out of 5) ★★★★★

On entering the Roast on the Upper East Side, the first thought that crossed my mind was “wow, this does not feel like a kosher restaurant.” The décor is Southern rustic with old school signs plastered throughout that read “Coca-Cola for 5 cents.” And the service was quite speedy. Sure, it may be all the way uptown but it is worth the experience for some good old fashioned Southern cooking.

The menu is straightforward (as menus should be) and inexpensive for the portion sizes. We ordered the Soup Du Jour to start, which was filling in itself. Then for the mains I got a Quarter + 2 Sides (Mashed Potatoes & Grilled Veggies). And the wife got the Signature Sandwich.

The food came out quickly and was also gobbled down just as fast. The food was mouthwateringly delicious. We didn’t know what to expect when we decided to head over but our expectations were pleasantly surpassed by our delicious experience. This is a great place to walk-in for lunch or dinner.
